Salisbury Academy began in 1888 and apparently underwent several name changes. In June 1905, Prof. H. Sheffey Roller, the new president of the North Missouri Academy changed the name to the North Missouri Classical and Business college.
In January 1906, J.F. Pratt announced he had purchased the North Missouri Academy.
